Summer Open Courts Schedule

I have updated SportsYou with the Summer Open Courts Schedule.

We will have two days this week before school lets out: Monday, May 18, and Thursday, May 21, from 3 to 4:30 pm. This will be open to anyone in middle school or high school who wants to play tennis in the future.

Starting after Memorial Day, we will begin our summer schedule, which will generally be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

These days will be split between middle school and beginners in the early session, and advanced players in the late session. The late session will be for players with at least one year of experience who are looking to take their game to the next level.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, middle school and beginners will go from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Advanced will come in at 7:15 pm to get warmed up, then will go from 7:30 to 9 pm.

Saturdays, middle school and beginners will go from 10 am to 11:15 am. Advanced will come in at 11 am to get warmed up, then will go from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm.

All summer sessions are OPTIONAL, but if you want to be good at tennis, you should try to attend at least a few sessions this summer.

All updates will be passed along through SportsYou. You can sign up for your specific page at the links below:

FAQs for summer workouts:

  • Do I need a racket to attend? NO. We have plenty of rackets for you to use. Just make sure you have gym/tennis shoes and dress for the weather. Bring a water jug/bottle with you.

  • Can I show up late? Maybe. We will generally stay 10-15 minutes past the scheduled start time. If nobody shows up by then, and we haven’t heard from anyone, we will go home. You can always message us through SportsYou to let us know you are going to be late.

  • I played tennis in gym class and was really bad. Should I come out? YES. We can help you learn the game. Don’t judge how you might have played in gym class.

  • Are these open courts free? YES. As long as I’m coaching for the school, I can’t see charging students for lessons. But typically, lessons start at $50 an hour or more. So there is great value in getting this type of teaching for free.
